Defining "blog" is a fool's errand

Blogs are whatever we make them.
We make the lay out. We decide when to post. We decide the content. We decide who can view them.

So you want to start a blog? Here's what you need to do -
1.) Do your research. Pick a blogging platform; there are several. I chose Blogger because it is affiliated with Google and seemed pretty straight forward and easy to use. There is also Tumblr, WordPress, Posterous, and several others that are all free to use.
2.) Just do it. The hardest part about starting a blog is simply taking that first step. It can be intimidating - it's new and your thoughts and ideas are out there for people to read. But just do it.
3.) Monitor your content. Remember, you are writing for an audience. Know your brand and how you want to portray yourself and post accordingly. Furthermore, listen to what your audience wants from you. Be clever, be witty, be funny, be serious. Be you.
Remember social media writing is a different style of writing. Know the importance for writing well and learn how to hone your writing skills.

Don't give up! Push through your struggles and grow as a blogger!
