Maybe a little known fact, but MTSU ORCO has a group page on Facebook. As a group, Henry, Jenna, Brittany, and I decided this was probably the best option for them, although it might not be very successful just yet. We decided the group page might be more beneficial over the fan page because it is more exclusive. Theoretically, it is only for MTSU ORCO majors. It is also a good spot for discussions on upcoming events and developments in the field. However, we believe it could be handled a little better. None of us were aware of the group at all. Somebody should be elected in charge to promote the page, searching for ORCO majors and consistently posting relevant content.
While a group page might be the most beneficial for those of us in the major, a fan page would also help to recruit more students into the major. When asked my major, the number one response I get is, "so, what is ORCO?" I believe there would be a lot more people interested if they knew #1 that the ORCO major existed and #2 what it was all about. This is the area where the fan page would be beneficial.
I think a page would definitely help explain to some students what exactly ORCO is, good point.
