Social media influences on the 2012 Presidential Election

Honestly, without social media, I wouldn't even know who was running in the 2012 Presidential election.
So let's take a look:

Going to each of these websites leads you to their networking sites as well, including Twitter and Facebook. But who is using these most effectively?

By the looks of this chart, it's looking like Barak Obama is in the lead as far as followers and fans are concerned, but let's be real... he's had the last four years to campaign. Gingrich and Romney aren't far behind, but one is much stronger on Facebook while the other is stronger on Twitter. But the number of fans doesn't necessarily determine anything. Remember - it's quality, not quantity that counts.
Based completely on their use of social media, not their actual campaign, I tend to favor Romney. Granted, well at least I assume, that none of these guys are doing their own Tweeting, I think Romney's Twitter is pretty effective. He Tweets content consistently and tries to engage with his followers.
