Twitter Do's and Twitter Don'ts

So Twitter has been on the rise for quite some time now, and people are starting to see the benefits of Tweeting professionally. However, there is a fine line between professional Tweeting and annoying marketing. Yes, you want to promote your brand, but, no, you don’t want to oversell yourself.

Twitter is social media. Social, meaning it involves the interaction between people. Build that relationship and your brand will publicize itself.

Here are some quick tips on effective Tweeting.
      1. Listen and observe before Tweeting.
Yeah, it always comes back to listening. This previous post tells you why.
Good example: This morning, I mentioned Arby’s in a Tweet. Within minutes they had followed me. Somebody is listening.

       2. Reply to people who Tweet you. And mention people, too.
It is only polite to reply to conversations. It is also important to engage @others with #questions and #content.

       3. Follow, follow, follow.
Follow people with similar interests. Follow people you think would find you interesting. Most importantly, follow people who follow you!

What NOT to do on Twitter
       1. Sell, sell, sell.
Nobody wants to hear all about your brand all the time. It gets boring. Change it up.

       2. Do NOT post new tweets every two minutes.
People pay attention if they get consistent, good quality content from you.
They will unfollow you if you tell them every time you sneeze. (Bless you.)

       3. PROOF READING
You might like “txt lingo,” you might think it’s cute. But when you’re Tweeting professionally, at least watch out for your spelling.

What you Tweet matters!

Check these out for more do's and don'ts.
